The Story of the Moon and the Sun

Aarshiya karki
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Luna, who was 13 years old. She lived in a town called Perryland. Luna had recently won the junior skate championship. One day, after the skate competition and some days after her skating class, Luna was returning home. She was thinking about what a wonderful day it was, with the birds chirping and the gentle wind blowing. Suddenly, she realized that a raggedy boy had been following her for the past ten minutes.
The boy’s name was Saurya. He used to be the town’s genius, but now he was known for getting into bad habits. Saurya hesitated before speaking, “Luna, can you help me? I need to talk to your father. It’s important.” Just as Luna was about to respond, her father arrived in his car.
“Luna, don’t you know he is a bad guy?” her father said sternly. “Now get in the car,” he added. Luna got into the car, feeling grateful that her father had saved her from the “bad guy.” Her father warned her, “Never talk to that boy again. He’s trouble.”
Luna thought about how her father had protected her and felt thankful. She admired her father for turning impossible things into possible ones and making her feel safe. Luna loved journaling, and that 2 Imperial World School night, inspired by her gratitude, she decided to write a heartfelt letter to her father as a gift.
The next day, as Luna was writing the letter, the doorbell rang. It was a little girl, about six or seven years old. The girl introduced herself as Saanvi, Saurya’s little sister. “Hey, your name is Luna, right?” the girl asked shyly
“Yes, my name is Luna. Who are you? Come inside,” Luna replied kindly
After they sat down, Saanvi said nervously, “My brother needs help. He’s not sick, but he needs medicine to feel better, to stop feeling bad.” Luna’s eyes widened as she understood what Saanvi was asking for. Her father owned a pharmacy, and Luna realized Saanvi was asking for drugs for her brother. Luna felt angry and shocked at what Saurya was making his sister do.
That evening, Luna revealed to her father about what Saanvi had said. Her father’s face darkened, and without a word, he grabbed his coat and stormed out of the house. Luna, determined to find out the truth, followed him quietly.
She trailed her father to Saurya’s house, where he met with Saurya’s father. Luna hid nearby, eavesdropping as the conversation turned into a heated argument. Her father accused Saurya’s family of spreading rumors, but Saurya’s father shouted back, revealing that Luna’s dad had been running a secret drug trafficking operation, selling medications with fake prescriptions. Luna’s heart sank as she realized her father’s actions had trapped a genius like Saurya in a vicious cycle of addiction.
That evening, Luna decided to finish her letter, but this time, it wasn’t just a letter of admiration. It was 4 Imperial World School a letter full of questions and emotions–a way for her to confront her father:
Dear Daddy,
I’ve been thinking about a lot of things, and it’s hard to know where to start. My name is Luna, which means "moon," and for the longest time, I felt like I was the moon because I took my light from you. You were always so strong, like the sun, and I thought I was lucky to have that light shine on me. I loved the idea that the moon gets its glow from the sun, and I thought it made us close, connected by light.
But now… now I feel embarrassed. I’ve learned some things that make me feel confused and sad. I always thought I was the moon, but now it seems like I was wrong. Saurya’s name means “sun,” and that always made sense because you said he was so bright. But after everything that happened, it doesn’t make sense anymore. You, daddy, you helped dim that light, and I feel hurt.
I didn’t know before, but I understand now. You hurt Saurya and helped him fall into bad things, and that’s because of the things you’ve done. I don’t know if you knew what was happening, but I can’t pretend that I didn’t see it. I used to think you were the protector, the one who could make everything right, but now I feel like I was wrong. I thought the moon needed the sun to shine, but now I see how you dimmed the sun’s light, and it hurts me so much.
I love you, but I don’t understand what’s going on. I feel lost and upset, and I don’t know how to feel Echoes of the Wonderful Mind 5 about what you’ve done. Please help me understand why you did it.
Love,
Luna
Luna placed the letter on the kitchen table, hoping her father would read it. She had poured her heart into it, and though she feared what might happen next, she couldn't keep the feelings inside any longer.
That evening, after dinner, her father walked into the room, his face pale and his eyes red. He didn’t say a word at first. He simply pulled Luna into a tight hug. She could feel him trembling, and for a moment, neither of them spoke.
Finally, her father whispered, “I’m sorry, Luna. I never wanted to hurt you or anyone. I was wrong.” His voice cracked, and Luna felt her heart ache. It wasn’t the angry outburst she had feared. Instead, he was deeply emotional, realizing the gravity of what he had done.
“I promise you,” he continued, “I will never repeat this. I’ll help Saurya. I’ll make things right.”
Luna’s dad kept his promise. He helped Saurya get the rehab he needed and made sure he could go back to school. Saurya worked really hard and slowly turned his life around. His hard work paid off when he topped the MBBS entrance exam, something no one thought would happen just a few months ago.
While all this was happening, Luna started helping Saanvi. Saanvi had seen a lot of bad things because of her brother’s mistakes, and Luna made sure she wouldn’t have to go down the same path. Luna helped Saanvi with school and guided her in life. She even started teaching her skating.
Luna’s dad also changed. He wasn’t the man who made bad choices anymore. He was someone who helped others grow, just like he promised. Luna, the girl who once thought she was only the moon shining by her dad’s light, now realized she could bring light too– to both the sun and the moon.
It was a fresh start for all of them.
