According to P. T. Barnum, “Literature is one of the most interesting and significant expressions of humanity.”

Literature opens our eyes and makes us see more than just the obvious. It helps us realize the wide world outside, surrounding us. It changes our perspective about things, people and events. It broadens the horizon of our minds and shapes our world view

One snowy winter evening, a young boy was walking across the town. He had a brown cap on his head, fluffy gloves and black scarf wrapped around his neck which had the appearance of a young student. He took a turn to the cafe nearby and asked for a cup of coffee with a slice of a brownie.

The boy’s name was Samir. He sat on a table near the window looking outside and he was daydreaming and looking at the window. Suddenly, a young lady with a yellow apron came with his order. She asked, “What’s with the look on your face?” Samir replied, “It’s nothing Vina.” The lady’s name was Vina. Samir knew her as he went to that cafe quite often. Vina was his regular server and she had always cared for him like a younger brother.

Samir always kept a cold face towards others trying to avoid people. After having his coffee he left for home. At home he lived with his parents who cared a lot about him. He had his dinner and went upstairs to his room. Samir had issues opening up to people easily which made him feel lonely and distant. The next day, he went to school and everything was going as usual when a girl entered the classroom. The teacher said that she was a new classmate and everyone should be friendly to her. She introduced herself as Maddina. Maddina had a jolly looking personality and everyone was having positive thoughts about her.

The teacher asked Maddina to sit next to Samir. She gave a wave to him but he looked away. Maddina then made it a mission to be friends with Samir but what she didn’t know was that it was not going to be quite easy. Maddina tried every way to be friends with him, brought him gifts, cheered while he was playing and sometimes did his homework but she got ignored every time. Sad and tired one day while returning Maddina saw Samir in the cafe writing. She spied on him through a corner. After he left, Vina saw that Maddina was spying on Samir. She went over and asked Maddina, “Do you want to order or leave since your guy left?” Mad- dina was embarrassed and tried to explain to Vina that she just wanted to be friends.

She went over and asked Maddina, “Do you want to order or leave since your guy left?” Mad- dina was embarrassed and tried to explain to Vina that she just wanted to be friends. Vina understood her and explained how Samir was an introvert and she should drop the idea. Maddina on the other hand was determined to achieve her goal. Maddina asked Vina if she knew anything about Samir’s likings. Vina told her about how he always writes. Vina used to peek into his writing secretly and encouraged him about it but Samir never shared his talent. Samir used to make a hidden id to email some of his works to the school paper board that many times got published. Maddina got an idea and thought about making Samir’s identity public. Maddina told everyone in school the next day that Samir was the secret writer and how he was interested in writing. Some kids in school teased him about it which made him very uncomfortable. He rushed to talk to Maddina where he rudely confronted her infront of many people. He left angrily out of school and went to the cafe. Vina saw him and asked what hap- pened. He told her everything and Vina made him understand how she just wanted to help. Some time later, Samir felt bad and went to apol- ogize to Maddina.

They both talked and eventually became friends. Samir got the courage to show his skill and he continued writing for school papers more often. The bully later apologized to him. Samir thanked Maddina for her sup- port. Samir now was a more confident and open person than he used to be. Samir’s writing helped and inspired many students to be open about their talents.
