The dragon encounter

Grade : 7 'Mechi'

It was at 6:00 am in the morning. I heard my mom say, “Reu Kai breakfast is ready.” My brother Kai was in a great mood. He was filled with energy and asked me to go outside and play. It was a Saturday and what else can happen I thought. But the biggest thing that can ever happen took place.

Wandering around the meadow, my brother spotted a boat, shining as if it was calling out to us. With a heart filled with curiosity, I went near the boat. I heard a faint whisper, “Each step awakens a new destiny.” I stepped on the boat and something happened. The boat started spinning and splashing on the water. I held my brother tight and I would never forgive myself if anything happened to him.

Splish, Splash, Sploosh!

It was quiet. My brother, traumatized, was spinning around in circles and he almost fell off the boat! Thank god I caught him. I was in shock of what had just happened. I looked around and I realized I was in Japan!

I stepped outside and a cold breeze of air hit my face and it reminded me of my childhood. Raised and born in Japan, I had to move to the USA because of personal reasons. I held my brother tight as he was so scared. I calmed him and we explored a bit. We came across a Japanese temple that looked so beautiful because behind it stood Mount Fuji that looked amazingly beautiful. Cherry blossom trees were planted all over the temple grounds. We went inside and what we saw was truly extraordinary

There were Japanese God statues everywhere. They were so beautiful that I just stood there in shock, admiring the beauty of the temple. There was a small lamp that was glowing and it caught my eye. I held it and shook it. The lamp fell out of my hand and started shaking. Later, I realized that there was a sign where “Do Not Touch. It Holds a Spirit” was written. My eyes widely opened and I started running away from it while holding my brother. A dragon with green scales rose from the lamp and it shattered the window and flew outside. I was truly shocked and amazed.

The feisty dragon started burning the cherry blossoms and came back to the temple and encountered me and my brother. It started attacking us and I was more than frightened. I was shivering with fear and signaled my brother to get out of the temple as fast as he could. He went but came back. He shouted, “I can't leave you. You mean as much to me as I mean to you.” Hearing this, my heart melted, forgot about the situation I was in. I snapped back into reality and the mighty dragon was inches near me. Without knowing what will happen next, my brother shook the lamp again and the dragon got trapped inside the lamp at last. I was so relieved and ran to help my brother.

After some time, me and my brother went outside to find a way back home. We asked the locals that had no clue about the USA. We dialed our mom's number but the number didn't exist. Wandering around the clean streets of Japan, something strange happened. Suddenly, we vanished into the air. It was 6:00 a.m. again. I heard my mom say,” Reu Kai, breakfast is ready.”
