Elementary Incharge

Position Overview

The Elementary Incharge at Imperial World School Nepal is responsible for leading and managing the academic and administrative functions of the Elementary section (Grades 1-3, or equivalent). This role involves ensuring the successful implementation of the school's curriculum, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, and supervising the professional growth and performance of the Elementary teaching staff. The Incharge acts as a vital link between the school administration, teachers, students, and parents, driving the school's commitment to holistic development and educational excellence.

Instructional & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Oversight: Ensure the effective planning, delivery, and assessment of the Elementary curriculum, aligning with the school’s standards and educational philosophy. Actively contribute to and monitor curriculum development processes.
  • Instructional Excellence: Lead and mentor Elementary teachers to implement research-based, student-centered, and engaging pedagogical strategies. Promote the integration of inquiry-based learning, project-based learning (PBL), and technology in instruction.
  • Teacher Management & Support: Conduct regular classroom observations, provide timely and meaningful feedback for teacher growth, and facilitate professional development opportunities relevant to the Elementary level. Manage staff schedules, duties, and performance evaluations.
  • Student Learning & Assessment: Oversee the student assessment process across the Elementary section, using data to inform and improve learning, teaching, and curriculum design. Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and attendance are maintained.
  • Diverse Learners: Ensure that all students experience appropriate levels of challenge and that the diverse needs of learners are met through effective differentiation and support strategies.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Foster strong and collaborative relationships with parents, engaging them in the learning process through frequent, meaningful, and timely communication about student progress and school activities.
  • Department/Team Contribution: Skillfully contribute to leadership planning, budgeting, and other operational activities as required by the Principal/Head of School.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Support and supervise the planning and execution of Elementary-specific programs, events, and meaningful activities beyond the classroom (e.g., field trips, clubs, assemblies) that extend learning experiences.

  • Safeguarding: Ensure all Elementary staff and activities adhere strictly to the school's child protection policies and procedures. Participate in and ensure staff compliance with all mandated child protection training.
  • Policy Compliance: Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures, ensuring a disciplined and positive learning environment.
  • Professional Growth: Actively engage with the administration and colleagues in a committed effort to continue to grow as an educational leader and professional.
  • Other Duties: Take on other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor (Principal/Head of School).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university.
  • A valid teaching certificate/license in content area and/or educational leadership.
  • A minimum of five years of current, full-time related teaching experience, with demonstrated expertise in Elementary education.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a leadership or coordination role (e.g., Grade Level Coordinator, Head of Department, Assistant Incharge).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience with integrated curriculum models and modern pedagogical frameworks.
  • Experience teaching or leading in an international school setting, particularly in South Asia.

  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of child development for the Elementary age group.
  • Ability to think systematically, reflect on, and learn from practice, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using school and subject-related technologies to enhance management and instruction.

Terms of Employment

  • Working Hours: General working hours and days will be in alignment with the school's established schedule (e.g., Sunday through Friday, with specific start and end times). Flexibility with work hours will be requested as needed to meet the requirements of the leadership role.
