Once upon a time, there was a brilliant girl named Delphine. Delphine
lived underneath the Atlantic Ocean in a magnificent palace, which was
built out of sea corals. She had long, silky, grey hair which would swing ma-
jestically around with the ocean’s current and with the melody that she
would sing. People living far and near the Atlantic Ocean would whisper
about Delphine’s intelligence and beauty.
One sunny afternoon, it was the holidays, and Delphine was clean-
ing her room. As she was moving her furniture around, she stumbled upon
a large, loose wooden plank emerging from the floor. Out of curiosity, she
went over to the loose plank and kneeled to take a peek inside where she
saw a bright shiny pearl laying down peacefully on the ground.
Delphine got nervous and scared as she had never known about
this certain loose plank in her room. Delphine started to break more piec-
es of the plank so that she could fit through the hole and get the shiny
pearl. She finally managed to fit into the hole and started swimming
towards the pearl quickly. As soon as she picked up the pearl, she heard a
loud bang out of nowhere and no light shone through the hole anymore.
Delphine tried to budge all the wood planks but she couldn’t
despite all her effort. Delphine then remembered that all this happened
after she had picked up the pearl and it was still in the palm of her hands.
She quickly dropped it on the bank and as soon as the pearl touched
the ground, the wooden plank that she had entered from, appeared.
Delphine swam and just as quickly as she had swam into the hole, she
emerged out of the hole. As soon as she returned to her room, Delphine
hid the plank under her dresser and she did not ever speak a word about
the hidden plank with anyone, scared that someone else might have to
go through what she had gone through.
