Lonely fisherman

Anwesh Lal Shrestha

Grade : 5

Just like any other typical friendship Milly and Linda were insep- arable from each other. They were like skin and bones attached to each other. Their friendship had started way back when they were kids. One particular day Milly had been playing in the sand- box when suddenly some teenager came and started bullying her. That day Linda had also been playing there and saw the incident so she went and told the adults what was happening and at the same time defended Milly from the teenagers. Since then Milly had always admired Linda.

But like every friendship, the happiness had to come to an end. So when the two friends parted ways for college they made a vow to meet each other again in the park where they first met. 10 years had gone by when the two friends finally came to meet each oth- er again. Milly was very excited, but little did she know that Linda had changed since they had last met. At first, Milly was surprised by her attitude, but she didn’t mind.

The worst was yet to come as Linda just stared at her with no ex- pression or emotion. Milly tried to talk to her but it backfired when Linda said she didn’t want to be friends because when they had gone their separate ways, someone had told Linda that Milly talked really bad about her and she believed it straight away. Milly was re- ally disappointed to hear what Linda had to say but she respected her decision and left.

Later Linda found out that it was all a lie to break their friendship so she went in search of her friend. After weeks of searching, she finally found Milly and apologized for her rude behavior. Finally, the two friends reunited and started over with a cup of coffee. The moral of the story is - Don’t trust others.
